Last Nights Thunderstorm

About 8pm last night a large storm rolled over Gainesville. I was worried about an electrical surge so everything got turned off, and then I realised, what am I doing inside when I could be outside taking photos!

This was probably the best shot I got all night. I have some fun one's of the cats hiding under the bed (some of the resulting booms were pretty loud and one was so loud that I jumped rather high, literally) however I have to recover them off my formatted memory card...

That's a great shot. Very crisp focus on the lightning. I'm still working that out.

Thank's!
Here's what I did:
Tripod mount the camera.
Turn off AF, set focus to center of infinity symbol.
Point and frame camera
Set to Manual, adjust f/7.1-9,
Shutter so that is 1 stop underexposed
With MC-DC1 remote, use the continual function (shutter lock) and wait for results!
Pretty easy and beats buying a $329 for a lightning trigger
