Well I know everyone has been holding their breath but it appears that my scalp has browned nicely thanks to the use of copious amounts of moisturizer. However, I have now progressed into phase two - "the itchiness". It is inevitable therefore that later this week I am going to have a severe case of phase 3 - "eww, he's got dandruff".
In other news, we woke up this morning to 34ºF/1ºC weather!??! What is going on? I've had to wear a sweater/jumper and have been cold all day... stupid spring weather...

More reasons to love a Mac
I confess that I am an Apple Fanboy. I just love their products! Between Jenee and I we have two 80GB iPod Classics, an iBook G4 Laptop and a Macbook Pro laptop and I am in the process of saving for a new desktop for me and Apples Time Capsule too.
I think I have blabbed extensively about how wonderful they are elsewhere in this blog and if you need me to blab to you in person shoot me an email or call be, but here is another reason why I love them.
Over Christmas, Jenee and I bought the Chronicles of Narnia audioCD's and we have been listening to them on our iPods. Now, if you set the iPod to shuffle you tend to get a song you like and then i chapter from the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which tends to be annoying. So, I did some online learning and discovered how to convert the files into audiobooks. No sweat here. Syncing my new audiobooks to my iPod I discovered I had made a mess of 127 files instead of 7 files for 7 books. So, I looked around for some 3rd party software and found it. I tried the trial version and actually decided to fork over $10 for it. Usually there is some free software that does the job, but this was worth every cent. So, a few hours later I have made audiobooks that are one file, have chapter markers and remember where you left off! LOVE IT! By the way, I bought Audiobook Builder.
For Apples, there are a ton of individuals out there who write all kinds of programs that just work such as FFmpegX, Handbrake, Perian, DVD/CD/Bookpedia , Lostify and so on. So, come one, all the cool kids have Mac's!
And to top it off; I have an undergrad student who has two laptops. 1, a brand new Vista machine and 2. a 2 year old Mac, both running an extremely demanding program called LabView. The Mac was running LabView inside XP inside OSX 10.5 and the Mac was still 4x faster (by my stopwatch). How can you go wrong?

Our Easter Weekend
Our Easter weekend was a little lower-key than we were anticipating this year. Somehow, despite reading through Matthew in my Bible study, we felt like the Easter weekend just passed us by, which is kind of sad. Albeit, we were invited to have a very delicious Easter dinner with Krista's parents. It was extremely generous of them to include us in their family and Jenee and I really enjoyed our fellowship with them. I miss big family dinners around a table talking and laughing like back in Australia with my parents and sisters. Those were great days (said smiling and reminiscing).
Well, the reason why the weekend somewhat flew past us was because Jenee had much homework to do and I was looking for jobs. I still don't know where the time went? One new thing did happen to me, though, and its something I will have to be more careful of for the future. On the drive down to Krista's home in Ocala, we had the top down on Jenee's car and we both caught a little sun, I actually caught more that I would have liked on the top of my head and have a burnt scalp. Ouch! Now that I shave my head I am gonna have to start using sunscreen and wearing hats all the time!
Well, its Monday morning and I have a list of a dozen things that require my attention. I hope you all had a great Easter and send me an email!

Spring Break = Bachelor Week
Yep, even though I technically work through all the student breaks (spring, fall and summer break) I got to have my own little spring break because Jenee went to Texas to take a week long spring break course and I had a week on my own. Actually we both flew to Texas and I came back after the first weekend.
So, what did I get up to while Jenee was living it up and working hard all at the same time? Well, the first two nights were very much doing what ever I felt like because nobody was around to tell me otherwise. I worked on sorting out my music library for my iPod and managed to save some 30% more disc space by converting 15GB of video to 10GB of video. I aimlessly surfed the internet for stuff in general (as well as job hunting), made brownies and ate brownies and I even played managed to run some long overdue errands, however, after several days of living this way, I soon realized that the apartment was looking pretty terrible so I then spent two days cleaning everything.
Well, originally I had some funny anecdotes to tell and I was going to post some pictures, however I don't seem to have the motivation anymore. Jenee has since come back from Texas and I didn't realize how much I missed her, I knew I missed her, but last night we literally slept pressed up against each other back to back enjoying the presence of the other person. Apparently we both missed each other so much that we didn't even move away to cool off as apparently we were both sweating from the huge amount of body heat we emitted. We have actually submitted a proposal to tap our body heat to supplement the Gainesville power grid during the night... lol.

Skype'n
A day or so ago I had a nice long chat to my sister Helen and her two gorgeous litlin's. I think my favorite part of the whole deal was Helen showing me her daughters hair. As a miracle of God, Rachel's hair grows faster at the back than on the sides and front giving her a natural mullet! Go Australia!

So stinkin awesome! She is such a cutie, while Mummy wasn't watching she typed a few special's to me as well, haha.

Sable's Fascination with Bags
She loves the bag. She love it very much! Jenee had a bag from Cloud 9 and left it on the floor. As with any bag, if it's on the floor, its fair game for Sable. She gets into the bag, she claws at the naughty had that pokes her while she is in the bag, she bites the bag, she sits on the bag, she hides in the bag and she sleeps in the bag.
Hours of laughs.
Hours of laughs.

An Interesting Cultural Experience
I am a few days publishing this post, but here it is. From Thursday through Saturday night, Jenee and I were busting ourselves, working to make everything work smoothly for a conference that Jenee organized. There were over 300 students plus a good 40 staff members and I am very proud to say that all of Jenee's planning shone through and the conference ran exceptionally well. My role in the conference was essentially to wear what ever hat was needed to and so I was at times the AV guy, photographer, tour guide, escort, errands runner, liason and moving muscle. Three days of that kind of activity and that would explain why on Sunday Jenee and I literally could barely do anything.
I think the most interesting part of the whole experience for me was that I have never had so much interaction with such a large number of African Americans. It was actually a really fun experience and I guess I had never really thought about how they are culturally quite different to Anglo-Saxon whites. I have thought about how to describe my observations during the conference but I am not sure I know exactly what I want to say. Being that the body of students were largely undergraduates, I was not surprised to see that there was a lack of motivation to attend sessions and to meander around aimlessly yet there was still a group of die-hard nerds who were in everything for the long haul.
I think my thoughts became a little more clarified during the final part of the program which was an awards banquet. Awards were given out for posters and presenters and we were privileged to have the President of another university give the plenary speech. All in all it was a good event, and I enjoyed myself. Here are some of the pictures from the event.
