Jenee + The Girl

Jenee: February 16, 2010.

More Quilts!

Jenee has been busy working away on her projects. In a single weekend, she turned out a diaperbag, baby quilt and stuffed kitty for her friend Grace. Pretty impressive! Especially since its all made of patchwork squares that she had as left overs from other projects.

Now that here Mom and Dad ave been here for their visit I can reveal a little about the latest project. For Linda's 50th birthday, Jenee is making Linda a Texas themed quilt. It's quite an undertaking as each square is something different. I have been doing most of the cutting for Jenee and because its so involved, I can only handle about an hour at a time doing it.

When its done, it should be something pretty special. There will be patchwork, embroidery and some amazing freehand quilting. I may show some squares here as we progress so if you are interested check back. The amazing thing is this quilt came right after we finished Heathers quilts and Jenee decided that she wasn't going to do anymore tricky quilts for a while. I guess she didn't really define what a while was to be.

8 Minutes of Ultrasound

It's a bit long, and the quality is a tad grainy but its my little girl and she's so stinking cute. You dont have to watch it, but now I can see her anywhere... Sappy, I know. Watch for the leg kicks, thats her response to the technician waking her up so she'd move around for us. So funny...

Fun and Games

Well, now we know we are having a little girl, everything is starting to become very real to Jenee and I. Everything is starting to crystalize in my mind that I am going to be a daddy and Jenee is going to me a mommy, and we have been on a high since finding out. The moms and dad's reading this know what I am talking about when I say that things are changing in us as we prepare for our little girl, like our priorities for example. That new bed we were wanting for ourselves is taking a back seat to the things the baby needs, and to my supprise, its not as hard as I though it would be to make that adjustment.

Well, after finding out and emailing / texting everyone on the planet as to what we are expecting, we have been receiving plenty of name recommendations. I thought I would share some with you. I wont share the whole story for each of them, Jenee may if she has the energy, but I will say that Jenee and I do have some names we like, now all we have to do is agree on one. Anyway, here are some 'special' names that have been recommended for us...

  • April Jeana
  • Jeana April Susan Betty
  • JoeLin
  • Jeana April Susan Betty JoLin
  • Jeana April Susan Betty JoLin Greg-Weena
  • Jeana Greg-Weena
  • Cougar
  • Trixiebelle Jasmina Greg-Weena

So much specialness here. Last Saturday we went to Babies 'R Us to register and we had a great time. It has become alarmingly apparent how easily my heartstrings can be tugged at the sight of a cute onesy that says Daddy's Girl, or Mommy's Little Angel. It would be far too easy to have spent hundreds of dollars on these things, I really didn't think I would be so sentimental, I guess I was wrong. Here are some photos from Saturdays fun.

Mommy and Daddy do not condone the skanky infant 2-Piece bikini.

Aaaaand a few hours later we found dad...

It's a....

GIRL! We are having a girl! We are so excited. We just came out of the sonogram and waited to find out with Linda and Joe togeather.

For the record, we wrote down what we thought it was. Linda and Joe thought it was a boy and mom and dad (that's us!) thought it was a girl!

Before you ask, we don't have a name...

A Few Random Thoughts

How good is my husband? Oh he is AWESOME. So the other night around 3:00AM I woke up wanting M&M's. Not just any M&M's as many experienced in Victor Harbor, Peanute M&M's. The only type of candy worth living for. I wanted them so bad that I couldn't sleep and when I was finally sleeping, I was dreaming about eating them, one by one, color by color. How glorious it would be.

The next day at work I was still thinking about how wonderful it would be to just have one, and suddently a KING size bag appears! And that is not all. Then when Nate did the Sam's shopping (because I love buying in bulk and go COMPLETELY out of control so am no longer allowed to go with him) suddenly the MOTHER of all bags appears. This is not just KING size this is Supper ATOMIC WarFARE HUGE!! It would take King Kong a month to finish off this bag.

So though between the two of us, making great progress through the bag and almost to the point of being sick, the craving has been abundantly answered as always. Does my husband take care of me or what! What is really awesome is that if I would have woken him up at 3:00AM to tell him that I coundn't sleep with an M&M fix, he probably would have sprinted, or atleast tiredly strolled out to get them. That is just how AWESOME he is. Just love that guy!

In other news, we got two great gifts in the mail this week which I have yet to thank the wonderful family members who sent them so THANK YOU!! We got the niftyest (not sure if that is a word but if it was that is how I chose to spell it) bracelet that helps you keep track of how many times you feed your baby a day. Heather passing on baby lessons to make our lives a bit easier! Although I think keeping track of two feeding schedules will be MUCH crazier than one, What a genius idea! I have been using it to keep track of how many times I go to the bathroom since I dont have to worry about feeding a baby yet. And the other is a GREAT family calendar especially made by Mum Stevens. I didn't realize how much joy a calendar can really bring but we have loved having those great pictures up on our wall right where we can see them everyday! Right now we are looking at beautiful Helen and Rachel for the month of February and it is just one of those things that makes you happy everytime you catch a glimpse of it on your way to the kitchen, and I make lots of trips to there so I am happy alot :).

And last but not least (aren't you proud Nate, this is a long post), we have our ultrasound on Friday, Feb. 19th and we are counting the days, trying very hard not to wish them away, but at the same time, we want them to go by fast. Mom and Dad (Masri) are will be here tomorrow and stay all weekend so we can share the exciting news and start registering and thinking baby. I have a girl feeling at this point, but have no idea why I feel that way. I haven't had any special dreams (in fact my dreams have been a bit unnerving, especially for someone who does not dream much in the first place, no more crime shows for me for sure!), or special feelings, but what Helen told me keeps ringing in my ears. When she had Sam, she had little "girl" in her. She never wanted to do the girly things like hair makeup etc... and I just can't seem to think of ANYTHING boy. Girl decorations have been a breese, I dont even have a desire to go shopping for boy clothes or anything, no boy names that I like, yet girl names are coming pretty easy. I coudl be totally wrong, and wouldnt be surprised. I will definetly have to get on target if I am, but I am being brave and actually telling what I think it might be. Watch it be a boy now that I have all this confidence, just watch LOL! We will see on FRIDAY!!!!

Happy Valentines Day at Publix

What better way to say I love you than with 5kg of cold, tender meat!

Of course if meat isn't your deal, you could always buy your loved one head lube and head razor...

And one last thing for the man in your life. Nice.

Today At Lunch...

I realised I have only made two posts this year so far. That's kind of a poor showing on my part so I will hopefully rectify it now. I must warn you that this is not a structured post at all and will follow the meanderings of my tired mind. First of all, Jenee and baby are doing well. She is starting to show now (I will post a picture soon) and as such she is having a bit of a time sleeping. Some nights are good, some are bad. Last night was a good night for her, it was a bad one for me and I slept on the couch, with the cats, pinned up against the backrest.

We got our new car this last weekend too! Its a really nice BMW 328i. It's got low milage for its age and quite frankly, we are just excited to have 4 doors. I gave it a good clean over the weekend and its now sitting nice and shiny in our driveway. Jenee and I have also been on a "sell it" mission and are selling off things that we don't need. In the last two weeks we have managed to raise a few hundred dollars so we're pretty happy with our efforts. Hopefully there is a bit more of that to come.

Jenee has also been working on no less than three quilts and a bag! I can't say much because all three are surprises but I will post pictures of them as they are progressing too. I have been busy job hunting and making a network of connections. Please pray for me in this, job hunting is something that I like to procrastinate but it's something I know needs to be done. Also, can you pray for Jenee and I as we are making decisions about our future in Florida. It is no secret we want to be in Texas, the sooner the better. The last thing I think I will mention is that in a few weeks we'll have our "big" ultrasound and see how the baby's growth is progressing. Please pray that all will go well. Back to work, for now...
